# Business anniversary posts: celebrating years in business

[Canonical HTML page](https://gradiently.design/guide/anniversary-post)

An anniversary is the rare post your followers are happy to see from a business. Make the number big, say thank you properly, and give people a reason to come back this week.

## The short version

- A strong business anniversary post makes the number of years the largest thing on the design, because it is the news.
- The caption should thank specific people, such as first customers, staff, suppliers and neighbours, rather than everyone in general.
- Anniversary offers feel generous when they connect to the milestone, for example a dish from the opening menu or a reward for the earliest customers.
- Traditional anniversary colours, such as silver for 25 years, ruby for 40 and gold for 50, give a milestone post a ready made palette.
- An anniversary works best as a short series across a week: a teaser, the announcement, a look back, the offer and a thank you.

A good **business anniversary post** does three things: it makes the year number the headline, it thanks the real people who got you there, and it gives followers a reason to visit now, usually an offer linked to the milestone. Anniversaries are one of the few times people genuinely want to hear about your business, so treat it as a small campaign rather than a single graphic.

## How to design an anniversary post: lead with the number

The number of years is the news. Set it large, larger than your logo and larger than the word anniversary. A big "10" is understood in a fraction of a second; "Celebrating a decade of serving our wonderful community" is not. Put the founding year underneath, which lets people do the maths and adds a quiet sense of history.

A portrait social post with 10 years set very large, the founding year above and a short thank you below, on a warm gradient background

The number, the founding year, one line of thanks. Nothing else competes.

A vertical story with the word One set large to celebrate a bakery's first year, on a soft gradient background

A first anniversary story. Spelling the number out gives a softer, more personal tone.

## What to write in a business anniversary post

"Thank you to all our amazing customers" is kind and forgettable. Name the groups, and where you can, the people. Ask permission before naming individuals or tagging them.

- **The first customers.** The person who walked in on day one, the first online order, the regular who never left.
- **The team.** Who has been there longest, and who joined this year.
- **Suppliers and makers.** The roaster, the printer, the farm, the developer. They are part of the story.
- **Neighbours.** The shop next door that lent you a ladder in week one.
- **Yourself, briefly.** One honest line about what it took. People like the person behind the business.

```text
[Number] years ago today, we opened [where] with [one honest detail].
Since then: [one or two true, specific milestones].
Thank you to [first customers / team / suppliers by name, with permission].
To celebrate, [the offer], [dates].
Here's to the next [number].
```

A caption template. Replace every bracket with something only your business could say.

If a long time customer is happy to say a few words, their line can become its own post. A short quote from someone who has been coming since year one carries more weight than anything you write about yourself; [testimonial post design](https://gradiently.design/guide/testimonial-post-design) shows how to lay one out.

## Anniversary post ideas by milestone

| Milestone | What to focus on | Post ideas |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1 year | Survival and gratitude | The opening day photo next to today; the most popular product; what you learned |
| 2 to 4 years | Growth and the team | Staff carousel; customer favourites; a small first birthday style party |
| 5 years | Becoming part of the place | Five things that changed and five that didn't; regulars' stories |
| 10 years | History and loyalty | A decade timeline; the original menu or price list; a reward for long time customers |
| 25 years and beyond | Heritage | Archive photos; the founder's story; a limited edition in anniversary colours |

Each milestone has its own emotion. A first year is about relief and thanks; a twenty fifth is about heritage.

A look back works well as a carousel: then and now photos, one page per year or era, and the offer on the final page. [Instagram carousel design](https://gradiently.design/guide/instagram-carousel-design) covers how to pace it, and a [year in review post](https://gradiently.design/guide/year-in-review-post) uses a similar structure.

## Anniversary offers that feel generous

### Generic

- A flat percentage off everything
- An offer with no link to the milestone
- Fine print that excludes most products
- Running for a month, so it loses urgency

### Tied to the milestone

- A dish or product from the opening menu, back for a week
- Something free for the first ten customers on a tenth birthday
- A reward for people who have been coming since year one
- A limited run in anniversary colours, numbered

You don't need an offer at all. A party, an open studio or a simple free cake on the counter can mean more than a discount, and costs less. Whatever you choose, announce it with the date and any limits up front, as covered in [announcement post design](https://gradiently.design/guide/announcement-post-design).

## Anniversary colours: silver, ruby and gold

Wedding anniversaries have traditional materials, and many businesses borrow them: silver for 25 years, ruby for 40, gold for 50 and diamond for 60. Even for a fifth or tenth, a metallic accent reads as celebration. Use metal as an accent on your usual brand colours, not as a whole new look. [Gold gradient design](https://gradiently.design/guide/gold-gradient-design) and [silver gradients](https://gradiently.design/guide/silver-gradient) go deeper into making metals look real on screen.

- Silver, 25 years: `linear-gradient(135deg, #f1f3f5 0%, #b8bec6 35%, #6c757d 60%, #dee2e6 100%)`
- Ruby, 40 years: `radial-gradient(circle at 30% 30%, #e85a71 0%, #9b1b30 45%, #3d0a14 100%)`
- Gold, 50 years: `linear-gradient(135deg, #fff1c1 0%, #e0b44c 35%, #9a6b1f 65%, #f4d58a 100%)`
- Black and gold: `radial-gradient(circle at 70% 25%, #e0b44c 0%, #4a3410 45%, #0d0b08 90%)`

Four milestone gradients. Black and gold suits any anniversary and holds white or gold type well.

## A week of anniversary posts

1. **Three days before: the teaser** "Something's coming on Friday." A story with the number half hidden, or the founding year alone.
2. **The day: the announcement** The big number post, with the thank you caption. Pin it to your grid for the week.
3. **Day two: the look back** A then and now carousel, or a short video of old photos.
4. **Day three: the people** Staff, regulars and suppliers who agreed to be featured.
5. **Last day: the thank you** Photos from the celebration, with consent, and a reminder of the offer's final hours.

Every one of those posts should look like it belongs to the same celebration. In Gradiently you design the announcement once on your Mark, add the look back as carousel pages, and on Pro resize the lot to story, Google Business and print poster sizes in one step, so the number and the colours stay identical everywhere. If your usual background feels too everyday for the occasion, search the [Market](/market) with colour words like "gold" or "deep ruby".

- Instagram post 1080×1350: 1080 × 1350
- Story 1080×1920: 1080 × 1920
- Google Business post 1200×900: 1200 × 900
- A4 poster 2480×3508: 2480 × 3508

Feed, story, your Google Business Profile and a window poster. Local customers often see the last two first.
