Lyhyesti
- The Gradiently Designer is the AI built into the Studio and the Forge: describe what you need and it makes or changes it on your canvas.
- The Designer reads your brand kit and brand profile before it works, so its designs use your fonts, colours, logos and voice.
- It can make new designs, sets of designs in several sizes, and new Marks, and it can edit, resize and restyle what you already have.
- Every reply can be undone exactly, and the design is saved as a version before the Designer changes it.
- The Designer never copies other people's Marks or private designs, and its use is measured in AI credits.

The Gradiently Designer is the AI inside Gradiently. Open it from the Studio's rail, describe what you need in ordinary words, and it designs on your canvas: in your brand, on your Mark. It can start a design from nothing, change one you have, lay the same idea out in every size, or forge a new Mark for the job. Because it reads your brand kit first, what comes back already uses your fonts, colours, logos and voice.
This guide covers what to ask for, how to steer it, and what happens to your work along the way. If you would rather use your own assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, see connecting an AI assistant.
What the Gradiently Designer can do
| Ask for | What it does | Example |
|---|---|---|
| A new design | Chooses a layout, writes or places your words, applies your brand | A launch post for our new product, calm and premium |
| A set | Makes several designs as one system, saved beside the current one | Six posts for our launch week, one system |
| A change | Edits what is on the canvas and leaves the rest | Make the headline lead, and quiet the rest |
| More pages | Extends a design into a carousel or deck | Turn it into a three-page carousel |
| Every size | Lays the same idea out again for other formats | The same idea in every size |
| Motion | Adds entrances so words arrive in turn | Bring it in slowly, one line at a time |
| A new Mark | Forges a Mark for the design, or one like an existing Mark | A new Mark for this design, warmer and calmer |
Tell it about your brand first
The single biggest improvement to the Designer's work is a filled-in brand. Before every design it reads your brand kit: your logos, colours, heading and body fonts, and your Voice section, with its tone words and its lists of what you always and never say. It also reads your brand profile: what you do, who it is for and how you sound. A Designer that knows you sell small-batch coffee to busy professionals in the city writes very different headlines from one that is guessing.
Setting this up takes ten minutes and pays off on every request. Setting up your brand kit walks through each section. If you run several brands, each has its own kit, and the Designer uses the one you are working in.

How to ask the Designer
Talk to it as you would brief a designer you trust. Say what the design is for, what it must say, and how it should feel. You don't need design vocabulary, but specifics help: real dates, real prices, real names.
Hard to act on
- Make a post
- Something eye-catching for the event
- Make it pop
- Fix the design
Easy to act on
- A portrait post announcing our autumn menu, calm and warm
- An event poster: Cupping night, Thursday 7pm, 12 Mill Lane, free
- Make the headline bigger and the rest quieter
- The date is hard to read on the story; move it higher
- 1
Point at what you mean
Select an element, a page or a colour before you ask, and the request applies to it. A chip in the message box shows what this means; click it to aim at something else, or clear it to ask about the whole design.
- 2
Attach a picture
Attach a photo or a logo from your Uploads to use in the design or as a reference.
- 3
Ask for one change at a time
Short follow-ups keep what you liked. Several changes in one message are harder to judge and to undo.
- 4
Try another direction
If the first result is wrong in spirit rather than in detail, ask for another direction instead of patching it.
Undo, versions and control
The Designer works on your canvas, where you can watch it build, and you can stop it part way; what it has made stays. Every reply has an Undo that puts back exactly what was there before, and replies you iterate on keep their own numbered versions you can switch between. Separately, the design's version history saves a version just before the Designer changes anything, so you can always get back.
When the Designer forges a Mark, it saves it as your private draft, which you can open in the Forge to fine tune. It can put that Mark on the current design, or make it your brand's Mark so new designs start on it.
Originality and credits
The Designer never copies other people's Marks or private designs. A Mark it makes still has to pass the same check as any other before it can be published: if it is too close to an existing Mark, it is refused. AI design originality explains why that rule matters.
| What you do | AI credits |
|---|---|
| Ask for a new design | The most, as it composes a whole design |
| Ask for a change to a design | A few |
| A reply that fails on Gradiently's side | Returned to you |
| Your own assistant composing designs over MCP | None: it runs on your own AI plan |
Usein kysyttyä
What is the Gradiently Designer?
The Designer is Gradiently's built-in AI. Describe what you need and it makes or changes designs and Marks on your canvas, using your brand kit.
Does the Designer use my brand fonts and colours?
Yes. It reads your brand kit and brand profile before every design, including your logos, colours, fonts and voice.
Can I undo what the Designer did?
Yes. Every reply has an Undo that restores exactly what was there, and the design is saved as a version before the Designer changes it.
Does the Designer copy other people's work?
No. It never copies other people's Marks or private designs, and any Mark it makes must pass the originality check before it can be published.
Does using the Designer cost credits?
Yes. The Designer's work is measured in AI credits, and credits for a reply that fails on Gradiently's side come back.
